K-1st Drama: For Kindergarten & 1st grades and for the non-reading actor. Through Guided Play, simple Improvisation and the use of Creative Drama techniques the beginning actors work together to create an original work. Actors become aware of the Actor’s Tools: the Voice, the Mind and the Body, and begin how to more effectively use these tools. A familiar story becomes the unwritten script for a short presentation at the end of the semester. Theatre games, improv and simple scene work set the stage to watch the young actor blossom and find the joy of being onstage! Class time: 35 min. Class fee $58 / semester.
2nd & 3rd Grade Drama: Actors are born! The class will focus on the building of a character. Through Theatre Games and activities, simple improvisation, physical and vocal technique exercises as well as several character discovery activities the young actor learns about playing a character. Each semester the class will agree upon a story (or two, depending upon class size) out of which a script will be written for presentation to friends and family at the end of each session. Class time: 45 min. Class fee $63 / semester.
4th & 5th Grade Drama: Actors take the stage to learn to create a character from a published script. This class will challenge the student to learn more about the fundamentals of building a character through text analysis, practice and character exercises. Theatre games and simple improvisations will be tools used to have a great time and learn about character development on stage. A culminating performance will take place for friends and family at the end of each semester. Class time: 1 hour. Class fee $74 / semester.
6th-8th Grade Drama: The middle-school actor gets the opportunity to build dramatic technique while learning more about character development. Actors begin to explore the world of dramatic literature. Activities weekly include theatre games and improvisations, scene studies, monologue preparation and open scene work. The exercises and activities broaden the actor’s knowledge of their own abilities and strengths to invigorate the growing actor. The final class of the semester will feature a performance for friends and family. Class time: 1.25 hours. Class fee $84 / semester.
9th - 12th Grade Drama: High school actors develop dramatic technique and character development techniques while working to improve focus, concentration and relaxation techniques. Classes will introduce the actors to different methods of character preparation. In addition to new techniques actors will also work to strengthen observation and listening techniques. Through theatre games, basic improvisation and scene work the actors will work to develop as theatrical artists. Class time: 1.50 hours. Class fee $95 / semester.
Acting the Song (3rd-5th Grade): This class offers a structured environment for vocal training and stage performance. The singing actor will learn about basic vocal technique through group exercises.
